In the cultural town of Detmold and the surrounding country side of the county of Lippe there is a great deal to experience!

 

For example, visit historic sites such as Hermannsdenkmal in Detmold, the Externsteine in Horn-Bad Meinberg, the Hexenbürgermeisterhaus and Junkerhaus in Lemgo or Schloss Brake in Lemgo-Brake.
Majestical Eagles and elegant Falkons, can be viewed at the species-rich and oldest, birds of prey and falcon centre in Europe, the Adlerwarte in Detmold-Berlebeck. The Vogelpark in Detmold-Heiligenkirchen, with over 1000 bird species and 300 mamals from throughout the world is a must for families. Or visit the adventure and climbing park "Teuto-Kletterpark" directly beneath the Hermannsdenkmal. Master the different stages of difficulty in climbing and balancing, and move through an area of beams, timber and platforms.
Take a guided tour of the fürstliche Residenzschloss in the centre of Detmolder. A real jewel in the style of the Weser renaissance period, with wonderful tapestries, rooms and halls. The Lippische Landesmuseum with its priceless collection from county and cultural history, Natural history and pre-historic history, that is internationally renowned. The exhibition IMPERIUM KONFLIKT MYTHOS 2000 JAHRE VARUSSCHLACHT opens on 16. May until 25. October 2009. Or visit the LWL-Freilichtmuseum in Detmold. On over 10 hectares you can see over 90 fully renovated historical buildings from the area, and see the history of farming of the surrounding countryside.
